Game 1

In a game against very high calibur SF Giants, the Border Cats were edged out 7-5. The team was losing 7-1 in the top of the 9th but with a late rally the could only manage 4 runs to make the game close. Mark Ruffin had some troubles that game and for the first time a pitcher hasn't gotten player of the game, but Oney Guillen who helped his team alot with three hits all of which were triples. GM Nathan had this to say, "We played terribly until the last inning. We can't do that. Our team must be working the whole game to win. Maybe Game 2 won't end as bad."

Another

Good game vs. MeanMachine

In a tough game against MeanMachine the Thunder Bay Border Cats came out on top with a score of 3-1. Two late runs scored by Drew Martin helped the team acheive that score as well as a run from Dan Collela and a stellar, 22k performance, from Ethan Vogt in his first game of the regular seasno. The team is looking strong and looks to better themselves this off season. GM Nathan had this to say, "The whole team played amazing. There was no fooling around this game, and Ethan Vogt kept us in there the whole time. He has earned the Player of The Game honors and deserves it." In other news Nathan will be watching Rival team The Black Jackets for GM Oak.

Rivalry

In a close game against the Oakville Black Jackets, TBBC's Rival. The Black Jackets edged out a 3-2 win against the struggling Border Cats. The Border Cats scored two late runs to pull ahead but the Black Jackets wouldn't give up and fought for a 3-2 win in the Bottom of the 9th. GM Oak was very pleased with his team. Nathan on the other hand was not saying this. "I think the team shouldn't pleased with this performence. They waited till the end to do anything. If it was not for Ruffin the game was over after the first. Even though Ethan Vogt is starting next game Ruffin deserves credit for this game."

Tough Loss

Another Underdog game for the Border Cats this evening came out different though. The Border Cats were up 3-0 but fell down thanks to an error by Bert Smith. The CF started playing catch with the 2nd Base Ben Petsch. Mark Ruffin pitched stellar knocking in 22ks. Nathan had this to say, "It wasn't entirely Ben and Bert's fault. Mark Ruffin could've not allowed those runs also but it's okay. We'll bounce back."
Note: TBBC is playing their rival Oakville Black Jackets.

Tough Game against South Sidney

The Thunder Bay Border Cats were thought to be the underdog in this team as they went away to face South Sidney who are a better calibur team and are 1-0 this season. The Border Cats came out cracking the bats scoring 3 runs in the first inning alone. The stellar performance of Mark Ruffin kept them in the game as he threw 17ks in his first season game and let only one lone run. Oney Guillen and Nick Wolle had their bats swinging in their first game as they batted in one run each. The player of the game honor was given to The Border Cat's own, Mark Ruffin, with Dan Collela and Marcus Jones coming in a close second. We caught up to GM Nathan after the game for a special interview. Here's what he said, "I'm proud of our team. Our defense kept us in there as well as Mark Ruffin. He's a great kid. First game of the year." "What did you think of being the underdogs you may ask. Well I do agree they are the better team, but if we play like we just did we will be unstopable."
Side Note: Border Cats will be playing another high calibur game this evening.
